Maui Activities for Kids and Families

Aloha Families, As a dedicated provider of enriching experiences, I offer children an engaging journey into the enchanting world of Hawaiian culture. My activities are designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and a sense of community while fostering a deep appreciation for the unique traditions of Hawaii. 1. Hawaiian Storytelling with Books and Crafts I create a cozy storytelling circle where I share captivating tales from Hawaiian mythology, such as the adventures of Pele, the goddess of fire, and Māui, the clever demigod. Through expressive storytelling, I encourage children to immerse themselves in these narratives and engage in thoughtful discussions, enhancing their listening and comprehension skills. All books for children are purchased by me and are gifted to your family to take back home and enjoy. Crafts are specifically tailored to the book/s to create engaging, fun, and educational experiences relating to Hawaii and Maui. - Materials Provided: Picture books about Hawaiian myths, comfortable seating with mats or blankets. 2. Lei Making Craft In my hands-on craft session, I guide the children in creating their own colorful leis, a symbol of aloha and Hawaiian hospitality. I provide an array of materials that are safe and easy to handle, ensuring they can express their creativity while learning about the cultural significance of leis. - Materials Provided: - Colorful paper flowers (various shapes and sizes) - Scissors - String or ribbon - Glue - Markers and stickers for decoration 3. Hawaiian Language Exploration I introduce the children to the beauty of the Hawaiian language by teaching them basic words and phrases through fun and interactive games. Using flashcards and visuals, I help them learn greetings, numbers, and names of native plants and animals, making the learning process enjoyable and memorable. - Materials Provided: - Flashcards with Hawaiian words and images - Bingo cards for interactive games 4. Generalized Hawaiian Arts and Crafts Station I set up a versatile arts and crafts station where children can explore a variety of Hawaiian-themed projects tailored to their age. They can create colorful ocean scenes, tropical animal masks, or nature-inspired collages, allowing them to express their artistic talents in a fun and imaginative way. - Materials Provided: - Construction paper (various colors) - Non-toxic paints and brushes - Glue and tape - Beads, shells, and other decorative materials - Scissors and markers - Stencils and stamps for added creativity 5. Hawaiian-Inspired Nature Art In this creative activity, I take the children outside (if possible) to collect natural materials such as leaves, flowers, and small stones. Using these items, they can create nature-inspired artwork that reflects the beauty of the Hawaiian landscape. This activity encourages creativity and a connection to nature. - Materials Provided: - Bags for collecting natural materials - Paper or canvas for artwork - Non-toxic glue (if needed) - Markers or crayons for additional decoration Through these thoughtfully crafted activities, I provide children with a fun and educational experience that nurtures their creativity and curiosity about Hawaiian culture. We booked this for our three kids and they had such a great time! Mia was so much fun, they laughed the entire time. We were happy to take them out of the sun for a day to enjoy these crafts.
