Maui Activities for Kids and Families

Aloha Families, As a dedicated provider of enriching experiences, I offer children an engaging journey into the enchanting world of Hawaiian culture. My activities are designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and a sense of community while fostering a deep appreciation for the unique traditions of Hawaii. ***West Maui Bookings (Lahaina, Kaanapali, Kapalua, Napili): Please add-on the commute fee. 1. Hawaiian Storytelling Circle I create a cozy storytelling circle where I share captivating tales from Hawaiian mythology, such as the adventures of Pele, the goddess of fire, and Māui, the clever demigod. Through expressive storytelling, I encourage children to immerse themselves in these narratives and engage in thoughtful discussions, enhancing their listening and comprehension skills. - Materials Provided: Picture books about Hawaiian myths, comfortable seating with mats or blankets. 2. Lei Making Craft In my hands-on craft session, I guide the children in creating their own colorful leis, a symbol of aloha and Hawaiian hospitality. I provide an array of materials that are safe and easy to handle, ensuring they can express their creativity while learning about the cultural significance of leis. - Materials Provided: - Colorful paper flowers (various shapes and sizes) - Scissors - String or ribbon - Glue - Markers and stickers for decoration 3. Hawaiian Language Exploration I introduce the children to the beauty of the Hawaiian language by teaching them basic words and phrases through fun and interactive games. Using flashcards and visuals, I help them learn greetings, numbers, and names of native plants and animals, making the learning process enjoyable and memorable. - Materials Provided: - Flashcards with Hawaiian words and images - Bingo cards for interactive games 4. Generalized Hawaiian Arts and Crafts Station I set up a versatile arts and crafts station where children can explore a variety of Hawaiian-themed projects tailored to their age. They can create colorful ocean scenes, tropical animal masks, or nature-inspired collages, allowing them to express their artistic talents in a fun and imaginative way. - Materials Provided: - Construction paper (various colors) - Non-toxic paints and brushes - Glue and tape - Beads, shells, and other decorative materials - Scissors and markers - Stencils and stamps for added creativity 5. Hawaiian-Inspired Nature Art In this creative activity, I take the children outside (if possible) to collect natural materials such as leaves, flowers, and small stones. Using these items, they can create nature-inspired artwork that reflects the beauty of the Hawaiian landscape. This activity encourages creativity and a connection to nature. - Materials Provided: - Bags for collecting natural materials - Paper or canvas for artwork - Non-toxic glue (if needed) - Markers or crayons for additional decoration Through these thoughtfully crafted activities, I provide children with a fun and educational experience that nurtures their creativity and curiosity about Hawaiian culture. I have a master's degree in social work and an undergraduate degree in psychology with an emphasis in early childhood development, and studied pre-medicine and education during my undergraduate years, and was a special education teacher for an elementary-aged classroom.     We booked this for our three kids and they had such a great time! Mia was so much fun, they laughed the entire time. We were happy to take them out of the sun for a day to enjoy these crafts.
